High protein, healthy recipes using affordable, local South African ingredients to protect lean mass and support your GLP-1 weight loss journey.
Creamy Italian Comfort Food, Reimagined for Gentle Digestion
Classic Fettuccine Alfredo is the holy grail of comfort food, but traditional recipes rely on cups of heavy double cream, half a block of butter, and oily melted cheeses. When your gastric motility is slowed down on a GLP-1 medication, that thick fat emulsion can sit in your stomach for hours, triggering acid reflux, bloating, and intense nausea before you can finish a third of your plate.
Yet when your appetite is blunted, you still need dense, high-quality protein to maintain lean muscle mass, protect your energy levels, and keep your metabolism firing.
This Cottage Cheese Chicken Alfredo flips the script on traditional cream sauce!
By blending Plain Smooth Low-Fat Cottage Cheese with low-fat milk, sautéed garlic, and finely grated parmesan, you get an ultra-glossy, restaurant-style alfredo sauce with zero heavy cream. The blended curds dissolve into a velvety cream that coats every single pasta strand, while delivering a massive stealth protein boost.
Tossed with tender grilled or shredded chicken breast and topped with cracked black pepper, each serving delivers over 40g of muscle-protecting protein in a light, comfortable bowl that won’t weigh you down.
Best of all, it is a true one-dinner-for-the-whole-family win. Your kids and partner will happily devour their bowls without ever tasting the difference, while you get to enjoy rich, comforting pasta night with zero guilt and zero digestive regret.

Cottage Cheese Alfredo with Chicken (4 portions)
Ingredients
For the High-Protein Alfredo Sauce:
- 2 cups low-fat cottage cheese, 2 standard 250g tubs
- ½ cup Parmesan cheese (approx. 50g), plus more for serving
- ½ cup milk
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
For the Pasta & Chicken:
- 600 g chicken breast, diced
- 340 g Fettuccine pasta
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp salted butter
- ¼ cup fresh basil or parsley
- Optional: Pinch of red pepper flakes for serving
Instructions
- Boil the Pasta: Cook the fettuccine pasta in a pot of salted boiling water until al dente.
- Blend the Sauce: While the pasta cooks, place the cottage cheese, grated parmesan, milk, raw garlic clove, salt, and pepper into a small blender. Blend on high until completely velvety and smooth. Set aside.
- Cook the Chicken: Season your diced chicken breast with salt and pepper. Heat the olive oil and butter in a medium frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and sauté for 5 to 6 minutes until cooked through and lightly golden.
- Combine and Heat GENTLY: Lower the stove heat to its lowest setting. Pour the blended cottage cheese sauce directly into the pan with the warm chicken. Add the cooked pasta.
- Toss to Coat: Gently toss everything together for 1 to 2 minutes until the sauce is warm. If the sauce is too thick, stir in 1 to 2 tablespoons of your reserved pasta water to loosen it.
- Serve: Garnish with fresh herbs, extra black pepper, or red pepper flakes.
